The Johnson

The Swimmers Hotel

This hotel is a swimmers paradise. It boasts a 50m outdoor lap pool. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it. Not too warm either from what I can remember. Not that it bothers me too much but I always prefer a cooler outdoor pool than a heated one, especially during the summer months when typical outdoor temperatues can hit upwards of 30C.

The hotel room was more like a studio apartment with a small kitchenette without any bench space which was kind of annoying. I stayed for nearly a week in a ground floor wheelchair accessible room so it was extra large as was the bathroom and the counter tops were lower. Still, it was a very pleasant stay but I spent most of my free time in or near that pool.

The hotel had a pretty good gym too. Small but well equipped with a few treadmills, some free weights and some machines, perfectly adequate. A superb addition to give the venue that extra cutting edge would be a sauna or steam room but I'm not complaining. That pool did it for me and I would love to return over the summer months.

The only real downfall of this hotel is that there is no restaurant or bistro and thus, no breakfast option available. There is however a fabulous cafe literally across the road from the hotel.

Other than that, this is definitely one of the hotels on my. "visit again" list, just for the pool.
