Hotel Steyne

One of Sydney's Oldest Pubs

I've been living Sydney for my entire adult life and this hotel has been on my doorstep for all these years, yet this is the first time I've ever visited.

Originally built in 1859, it has survived 2 fires, one in about 1860 and another in the early 1920's. It was originally a beachfront hotel as there was no sea wall like you see today.

In 2021, it underwent a full multi-million dollar refurbishment to include several bars, a boutique style hotel and a fabulous bistro serving up a delightful menu of fresh seafood to wood fired pizza. It is one of the most popular beachside hotels in the whole of Sydney and it's easy to see why.

I booked a room at the last minute. It was a small queen size room but it was very comfortable with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. And at just $95 including breakfast, it has to be one of the cheapest, which is quite incredible when you consider its location.

Of course there are other rooms on offer so I dare say the next time I stay here I shall try one of their rooms with a beach and water view.
