Rhoda - Authentic Ethiopian

A stones throw away from Oval Tube Station is this lovely Ethiopian restaurant serving only authentic vegan cuisine.

This is one of those hidden gems away from the centre of London that is worth making the time and effort to visit and is on my GoTo list of places to take the foodie traveller.

Though quite a simple dish to look at, the cuisine was quite spicy with a freshly made base of Enjera, a gluten-free pancake made from Teff, an annual grass, species of Lovegrass native to the Horn of Africa, notably to the countries of Eritrea and Ethiopia. It is believed that this ancient grass first originated in Ethiopia between 4000B.C. and 1000B.C. It was one of the first ever crops to be cultivated domestically.

The toppings are sure to delight, made from chick peas, spinach, lentils, cabbage, potato, beetroot, prepared with garlic, fresh ginger, rosemary and onion, served with a delightful freshly brewed pot of spiced tea.

There's no cutlery here. You simply use the most traditional way to eat...with your hands.

The decor and atmosphere match the delectable cuisine. It was warm, cozy and comfortable with the soft sounds of traditional African music playing in the background.

It's no wonder that this restaurant has been given and continues to get 5 star reviews on Google maps.

This plate with tea cost just £15.  Definitely worth a visit. Our second visit (daytime) will be to taste their authentic Ethiopian coffee and cake.
